I’ll Never Blank

I’ll Never Blank

I’ll never blank a star
from existence
away so far
I’ll never seize its light
from the darkest of nights
or steal a beam from the moon
I’ll never know the heat
a single star can beat
when it’s shooting through the sky
I’ll never touch a star
or wander far
from the illuminated path
I walk to live
I’ll never cross the stars
the lovers they are
smiling on the rest of us

Exit Strategy

This poem
these words
are just an excuse
to play and amuse
myself for awhile
It’s a ruse
I’m tired
and headspun
Need to unwind
retreat to my lair
as quiet time
rolls in there
Think slower thoughts
just to see
what ought to be
if my merry muse she
will visit with me
whispering
flavorful tidbits
of more meaningful
wits

Sweet and Sour Personal Power

Sweet and Sour Personal Power

Sweetly sour
the aftertaste
of “Oh, so close”
versus
“Oh no, this is
all wrong”
Satisfaction over desires
the path to happiness
can be such a bitter pill
when the Universe
repeatedly slams NO
right in your face
Have a little grace
step back the pace
reread the fine print
lost in the tint
of rose-colored glasses
Want what works
work what you want
Somewhere in between
you’ll see
Get what you need
attachment released
to a desired outcome
Sounds ho-hum
but there’s nothing humdrum
about outer/inner peace
Sweet and sour
yet still power
to continue on
your wayward fun

life
Our world
littered with
rusty metal

corpses
bearing billions
of tumors
Cancerous humans
spreading like
the wildfire
it needs to heal
still fights
a losing battle
against
generations
ignoring the impending
ozone rapture
Trapped
in silent reflection
of what we
as a people
continuously
reinfect her with

Vacant Tapestry

Vacant Tapestry

Reasons why
I’m tied up inside
locked inside walls
without any halls
Childhood stripped
in disease’s grip
Friends were not cheap
unable to keep
Never feeling enough
as though I’d been struck
in the face by a rock
apart from the flock
Broken up family
unraveling tapestry
Reality and dreams
not what they seem
Opposite reflections
backwards connections
Releasing the sting
came forth to bring
A lighter perception
and brighter reception
but part of me still fights
in the quiet of night
to hold myself back
from imagined attack
