Black Hairy Words on White Water

We are all
floating mystery boxes
filled with unique
personal scars
deep damage
mostly
tucked away from view
askew(ed)

Locked up tokens
mementos of the before times
not necessarily good
but better
than flashing sparks
of ironic plagues
skipped over in the flowing waters
of love
and loss
life
and the soy sauce
because IT chooses YOU

Anger and grief
utter disbelief
stone cold replicas
of hermit crabs
without their shells
it’s the hell we all achieve
we all perceive

We all perceive
from the inside-out
We create by holding on
or destroy by letting go
Yeah, you know
and now that it’s penned
it doesn’t much matter when
because John died at the end

A Well-Defined Garden

A Well-Defined Garden

Everyone hides something of themselves
even I, the proverbial open book
Perhaps it’s different things
at different times
in different places
for various reasons,
but of me yet
my secrets are known
Not dumped on one doorstep
just broken down
into precious pieces
carefully planted in the ground
Blossoming seeds of knowledge
for lessons learned
shared or snared
they lie there
in loving memory

Neverland

Neverland

Call me walled
in cast iron squalls
sailed by random memories
to shelter in the dark
mismatched pieces of
this broken heart
Betrayed, unswayed
the ghost inside my head
is bleeding red
on visions of a perfect world
I am just a Lost Girl
silenced by a feather
drifting onto the remains
of hollow wordplay

Vacant Tapestry

Reasons why
I’m tied up inside
locked inside walls
without any halls
Childhood stripped
in disease’s grip
Friends were not cheap
unable to keep
Never feeling enough
as though I’d been struck
in the face by a rock
apart from the flock
Broken up family
unraveling tapestry
Reality and dreams
not what they seem
Opposite reflections
backwards connections
Releasing the sting
came forth to bring
A lighter perception
and brighter reception
but part of me still fights
in the quiet of night
to hold myself back
from imagined attack
